The Office of Admissions works hard to guide families through the admission process and prepare students for success. As the parent of a future Spartan, you will play a large role in your student’s college search process. Please take a moment to read the message for parents from Director of Admissions James W. Cotter. It provides helpful information to assist families with this important decision.

If your student is admitted, the first year information provided by the Academic Orientation Program staff offers useful and practical suggestions for students and parents about being prepared for the challenges of college classes, taking advantage of supportive services, setting up bank accounts, and adjusting to the changes of living away from home.

Michigan State offers many resources for parents to find information about a variety of services, health and safety on campus, and ways to stay connected with students.

Parents of students who have already been admitted to Michigan State are encouraged to read the Spring edition of the Spartan Family Newsletter produced by the Office of Admissions.

We look forward to working with your student during the admission process.
