Michigan State University’s commitment to international education is evident through its Study Abroad program, consistently ranked as one of the three largest study abroad programs in the nation. Each year more than 2,000 MSU students travel abroad, selecting from more than 220 programs of study in more than 65 countries on all continents. Programs range in length from a few weeks to an entire academic year, and are offered during every semester including winter and spring breaks. Freshmen Seminars are offered to first-year students interested in an initial international experience. Students and faculty in each small group form a “community of learning” around an intellectually exciting topic. The seminars are an opportunity for new students to explore a subject, gain academic skills, and get to know other students – even before starting classes in the fall.
